Employee wellbeing is defined as a set of conditions and capabilities; these can be illustrated by a typical employee benefits package.  

Conditions relate to the employee’s circumstances, their resources and associated financial solutions.

 

Capabilities, however, refer to their knowledge and skill at making wise financial choices so that they can make the best use of their resources.  

 

Consequently, employee wellbeing can be increased by better financial resources, e.g. company pension, group life insurance or private medical insurance, or better capability through education, coaching and advice, or both.
